| HDAC-2 is a member of a large family of enzymes that alter gene expression by catalyzing the removal of acetyl groups from core histones. Originally isolated as a transcriptional co-repressor, HDAC-2 possesses extensive aa sequence homology to HDAC1 (the founding member and most extensively studied HDAC enzyme). HDAC-2 forms transcriptional repressor complexes by associating with many different proteins, including YY1, a mammalian zinc-finger transcription factor. Thus it plays an important role in transcriptional regulation, cell cycle progression and developmental events. | | | Catalog # | H5109-47L | | Applications | Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry.
