| Histone H3 is one of the five main histone proteins involved in the structure of chromatin in eukaryotic cells. Featuring a main globular domain and a long N-terminal tail, H3 is involved with the structure of the nucleosomes of the 'beads on a string' structure. The N-terminal tail of histone H3 protrudes from the globular nucleosome core and can undergo several different types of epigenetic modifications that influence cellular processes. These modifications include the covalent attachment of methyl or acetyl groups to lysine and arginine amino acids and the phosphorylation of serine or threonine. Acetylation of histone H3 occurs at several different lysine positions in the histone tail and is performed by a family of enzymes known as Histone Acetyl Transferases (HATs). Acetylation of lysines in histone H3 is associated with genes that are being actively transcribed into RNA. | | | Catalog # | H5110-13H5 | | Applications | Suitable for use in Immunoprecipitation. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Immunoprecipitation: 20ul of a 50% slurry. | | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Positive Control | TSA-treated or sodium butyrate-treated HeLa or NIH/3T3 cells. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Polyclonal | | Isotype | IgG | | Host | Rabbit | | Source | Tetrahymena | | Concentration | As reported | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in PBS, 0.05% sodium azide.
