The methylation of specific histone lysines controls aspects of short- and long-term transcriptional regulation, in addition to the propagation of bulk chromosome structure and stability. Methylated histone H3 K27 is also involved in transcriptional silencing of human polycomb target genes and earliest chromatin changes in the X-chromosome inactivation. Methylated histone H3 K27 is considered a mark of repressive chromatin states.

Storage and StabilityMay be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
