HIV-1 rev is a regulator of expression of virion proteins. It prevents splicing of viral RNA. It shuttles unspliced viral RNA to the cytoplasm for expression of viral proteins and incorporation of full length viral genomic RNA into virions.
Applications
Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications have not been tested.
Recommended Dilutions
Western Blot: 1:4500 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Immunogen
Glutathione-S-transferase fusion protein expressed in E. coli.|MW of Antigen: 49kD.
Form
Supplied as a liquid. No preservative added.
Specificity
Recognizes wild type rev protein produced from both in vivo (expression in COS, CV-1, HeLa cell lines) and in vitro (expression in E. coli bacterial expression system and translation products). Very low crossreactivity with other E. coli proteins on Western Blot. Crossreactivity with other GST fusion proteins will occur unless preadsorbed against GST.
