8-hydroxyguanosine (8-OG) is a modified base which occurs in DNA as a result of oxidative stress. 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) has become a sensitive marker of oxidative damage in cellular DNA and has been reported to be excreted in the urine.
