| Influenza is a contagious respiratory illness caused by Influenza A or B viruses and is commonly called “the Flu”. Influenza viruses are spread from person to person via respiratory droplets of coughs and sneezes. Every year, in the United States, millions of people get sick with the Flu. This infection occurs predominantly during winter and causes approximately 36,000 deaths on an average and 114,000 hospitalizations each year.
