Influenza virus is a single-stranded RNA virus, segmented, 70nm diameter and enveloped. Strains are described by geographic origin, strain number, year of isolation and hemagglutination (H) and neuraminidase (N) antigens.

Applications	Applications include direct FA staining of target antigen in a permissive tissue culture system. Working strength must be determined by the user for a specific application but a starting range of 1:5-1:20 is recommended. Acetone fixation of the antigen source is recommended prior to staining.
