| A well-characterized basic peptide believed to be secreted by the liver and to circulate in the blood. It has growth-regulating, insulin-like, and mitogenic activities. This growth factor has a major, but not absolute, dependence on Somatotropin. It is believed to be mainly active in adults in contrast to Insulin like Growth Factor 2, which is a major fetal growth factor. | | | Catalog # | I7661-10F | | Recombinant Rat IGF-1 is a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 70 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 7687 Dalton. | | Biological Activity | Rat IGF-1 is fully biologically active when compared to standards. The ED50, was calculated using 2 methods: | | 1. Stimulation of protein synthesis in rat L6 myoblasts ED50 was found to be less then 30ng/ml. | | 2. Type 1 IGF receptor binding assay ED50 was found to be less then 10ng/ml. | | Storage and Stability | Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Reconstitute to nominal volume by adding sterile ddH2O, 0.1% HSA or BSA and store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | Source | E. coli | | Purity | 95% by RP-HPLC, FPLC, or reducing/non-reducing SDS-PAGE Silver Stain. Chromatographically purified. | | Concentration | ~0.1mg/ml | | Form | Supplied as a lyophilized powder in 100mM acetic acid. Reconstitute in sterile ddH2O, 0.1% HSA or BSA to a concentration of > 0.1mg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions. | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
