| The integrin family of cell adhesion receptors consists of several membrane-associated heterodimers, composed of an alpha and a beta subunit that associate in a non-covalent manner. The structure and functional diversity of the integrin family is based upon the pairing abilities of the individual alpha and beta subunits. Adhesion results in integrin aggregation into structures called focal adhesion plaques, which form the link between the extracellular space and the intracellular cytoskeleton. Signaling from focal adhesions is initiated by the kinases FAK, Pyk2 and ILK. Phosphorylation and cleavage of integrins result in modifications of cell adhesion, permitting physiological processes such as migration, vascular proliferation, and wound repair. | | | Integrin beta 1, also known as CD29, is a transmembrane glycoprotein that forms complexes with many integrin alpha subunits, (1 – 11), to form functional receptors that bind to specific extracellular matrix proteins. | | | Catalog # | I7661-38N2 | | Applications | Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry, Western Blot, and Immunohistochemistry.
