| IL-1alpha is a non-secreted proinflammatory cytokine produced in a variety of cells including monocytes, tissue macrophages, keratinocytes and other epithelial cells. Both IL-1alpha and IL-1beta binds to the same receptor and has similar if not identical biological properties. These cytokines have a broad range of activities including, stimulation of thymocyte proliferation, by inducing IL-2 release, B-cell maturation and proliferation, mitogenic FGF-like activity and the ability to stimulate the release of prostaglandin and collagenase from synovial cells. However, whereas IL-1beta is a secreted cytokine, IL-1alpha is predominantly a cell-associated cytokine. | | | Catalog # | I7663-02C | | Applications | | | Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilutions | ELISA: Direct ELISA 0.15-0.30ug/ml (using 100ul/well antibody solution). Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents, allows the detection of at least 0.2ng/well of recombinant hIL-1-alpha. | | Western Blot | 0.1-0.2ug/ml. Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents the detection limit for recombinant hIL-1-alpha is 1.5-3ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions. | | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher | | Storage and Stability | Lyophilized powder may be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Reconstitute to nominal volume by adding sterile 40-50% glycerol and store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Polyclonal | | Host | Rabbit | | Source | Human | | Concentration | Not determined | | Form | Supplied as a lyophilized powder in PBS. Labeled with biotin. Reconstitution: Reconstitute with PBS, 0.1% BSA. to a concentration of 0.05mg/ml. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous solutions. | | Purity | Puri ed by af nity chromatography. | | Immunogen | Highly pure (>98%) recombinant hIL-1-alpha (human IL-1-alpha). | | Specificity | Recognizes human Interleukin 1 alpha (IL1a). | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
