Interleukin-1 beta (IL-1beta) is a potent immunomodulator which mediates a wide range of immune and inflammatory responses, including the activation of B and T cells. Murine IL-1b is a 17.5kD protein containing 153 amino acid residues.

Biological ActivityMurine IL-1b is fully biologically active when compared to standards. The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of murine D10S cells is 0.002ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of 5x10e8 units/mg.

Storage and StabilityLyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile buffer or ddH2O containing a carrier protein. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 3 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
