| Interleukin-3 (IL-3) is a pleiotropic, 15kD cytokine that is primarily secreted by activated T lymphocytes, stimulates proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic cells. IL-3 supports growth of both pluripotent stem cells and more differentiated committed progenitors, as well as stimulates functional activity of some fully differentiated cells.
