Kallikreins (KLKs) belong to the serine protease family of proteolytic enzymes. Neurosin (KLK6), one of these, is atrypsin-like protease dominantly expressed in the human brain but also in a variety of other tissues. The human tissue kallikrein gene family contains 15 members that play important roles in cancer. Notably, KLK1, also known as tissue kallikrein, cleaves kininogen to release the vasoactive kinin peptide, bradykinin or lysyl-bradykinin. KLK3, called prostate specific antigen (PSA), is an established tumor marker that aids in the diagnosis, staging, and follow up of prostate cancer. KLK4 is specifically expressed in the prostate and overexpressed in prostate cancer. KLK5 is widely expressed but found at high levels in skin, breast, brain and testis; overexpression is an indicator of poor prognosis in ovarian cancer. KLK8 is expressed in the brain and is a novel marker of ovarian and cervical cancer.

Hybridoma	Hybridization of mouse SP2/O myeloma cells with spleen cells from BALB/c mice immunized with a recombinant human Neurosin protein.
Storage and Stability	May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50%), aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
