Keratin 14 belongs to the type A (acidic) subfamily of low molecular weight keratins and exists in combination with keratin 5. Keratin 14 has been studied as a prognostic marker in breast cancer. This antibody distinguishes stratified epithelial cells from simple epithelial cells and has been reported useful in the identification of squamous cell carcinomas.

ApplicationsSuitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications have not been tested.
Recommended DilutionWestern Blot: 1-2ug/ml for 2 hours at RT.
Immunohistochemistry (Formalin/paraffin): 1-2ug/ml for 30 minutes at RT. Staining of formalin fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0, for 10-20 minutes followed by cooling at RT.
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Positive ControlA431 cells, skin or squamous cell carcinoma.
Storage and StabilityMay be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
