Keratin 18, which belongs to the type A (acidic) subfamily of low molecular weight keratins, exists in combination with keratin 8. It was reported that tissues from gastrointestinal tract are postive for both keratin 8 and 18, but do not contain keratin 14. Tissues from gastrointestinal tract, respiratory tract and urogenital tract, as well as endocrine and exocrine tissues and mesothelial cells are positive for keratin 18.

Applications	Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications have not been tested.
Recommended Dilution	Western Blot: 1-2ug/ml for 2 hours at RT.
	Immunohistochemistry (formalin/paraffin): 1-2ug/ml for 30 minutes at RT. Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0 for 10-20 min followed by cooling at RT for 20 min.
	Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Positive Control	HT29 cells. Skin. Breast or lung carcinoma.
Storage and Stability	May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile 40-50% glycerol, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
