This antibody has been used for studying the immunolocalization of epidermal keratins, tissue distribution and epithelia development. AE-1 and AE-3 have also been used extensively, individually or mixed, for distinguishing carcinoma from non-carcinoma.

ApplicationsSuitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.
Recommended DilutionWestern Blot: 1:100
Immunohistochemistry: 1:150-1:200 for use on formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tissues. Incubate for 30 minutes at 37ºC. Can also be used with unfixed frozen sections.
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and StabilityMay be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.

SpecificityRecognizes most of the acidic (type I) keratins. Each epithelium contains at least one acidic keratin. Broadly reactive with almost all epithelial and their neoplasms. Produces heterogenous staining within a given epithelium; the detailed staining pattern varies depending on the differentiated and/or growth state of the individual cells.
