| KID (KNSL4; kinesin-like DNA-binding protein)is a member of the kinesin family that is involved in spindleformation and the movements of chromosomes duringmitosis and meiosis (1). KID colocalizes with mitoticchromosomes and is enriched in the kinetochore atanaphase. It might play a role in regulatingthe chromosomalmovement along microtubules during mitosis. The Nterminalregion of KID shares greater than 35% sequencehomology with the motor domains of other kinesins. The Cterminaldomain has limited but significant homology to NOD,a Drosophila protein and member of the kinesin family. KID also contains a putative nuclear localization signal (2).
