Alpha-lactalbumin is one of the major proteins in the alpha region after immunoelectrophoresis of bovine milk. It has been implicated as a component of the enzyme lactose synthetase which catalyzes he formation of lactose from uridine diphosphate galactose and glucose.

ApplicationsSuitable for use in IEP and RID. Other applications have not been tested.
Recommended Dilutions
IEP: Use 2ul serum against 120ul antiserum
Double RID: Use a rosette arrangement with 10ul antiserum in 3mm diameter center well and 2ul serum samples (neat and serially diluted) in 2mm diameter peripheral wells.
Single RID: 0.5-1% antiserum in the agar gel
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and StabilityLyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
