Laminin, a major structural glycoprotein of the basement membranes, is an attachment and survival factor for epithelial cells and can also promote the growth of epithelial cells. Laminin plays an important role in both the structural organization of basement membranes and in the anchorage of cells. Antibodies to laminin chains are useful in basic biology studies as well as in pathological studies concerning, for instance, the integrity of the basement membranes in carcinomas.

Storage and StabilityMay be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

ImmunogenPartially pepsin-digested laminins from human placenta.
SpecificityRecognizes the Mr 220kD b1-chain of human laminin. Appears to react with the NH2-terminus of the Ln b1chain. Unlike many other Mabs to Ln b1chain reacts strongly both under reducing and nonreducing conditions. Used to purify Ln-8 (2) and Ln-10 (6) by affinity chromatography.
