| Versican is a large multi-domain chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan, is secreted by fibroblasts and other types of cells. It has a N-terminal hyaluronic acid (HA) binding domain. This domain has homology with the G1 and G2 domains of aggrecan, (G1 is the hyaluronic acid binding region), to cartilage link protein which stabilizes the binding of aggrecan to hyaluronic acid, and, to the hyaluronate receptor CD44. In addition, Versican also has a lectin like domain, a C-terminal compliment repeat, and two EGF-like repeats, all of which can be found in aggrecan. Versican has an apparent molecular mass of ~1000kD, of which the core contributes 400kD from the 2409 amino acids, and the 12-15 covalently attached chondroitin sulfate chains make up the rest. | | | Catalog # | L1350A | | Applications | Suitable for use in ELISA and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Optimal dilution determined by the researcher. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | N/A | | Clone Type | Monoclonal | | Isotype | IgG1,k | | Clone No | 8.S.270 | | Host | Mouse | | Source | Human | | Concentration | ~1mg/ml | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in PBS. Labeled with Biotin. | | Purity | Purified by Protein A affinity chromatography. | | Immunogen | Large proteoglycan with chondroitin sulfate and dermatan sulfate side chains prepared from a human yolk sac tumor. | | Specificity | Recognizes core protein moiety of large proteoglycans. Reacts with the interstitial elements of nearly all tissues of human fetus. In human adult tissues only the perivascular and perimuscular fibrous element had the positively reactive structures except that the aorta was widely reactive. The interstitial elements of the carcinoma tissues were intensely reactive. Does not crossreact with aggrecan. | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
