| Leptin is a cytokine that is primarily expressed by adipose tissue. Leptin controls food intake by its interaction with the leptin receptor in the brain. Leptin action is mediated and controlled by the leptin receptor, a class I type cytokine receptor. sLR is generated by proteolytic cleavage of membrane-anchored receptors. This indicates that the leptin receptor might have other functions besides transduction. Binding of leptin with sLR increases the bioavailability of leptin in plasma, but also decreases the binding of leptin to membrane bound leptin receptors. For example, when comparing obese and lean individuals, plasma levels of sLR are significantly decreased whereas leptin levels are significantly increased. | | | Catalog # | L1670-08W | | Applications | Suitable for use in Immunoassays, Western blot, and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilutions | Western Blot: 1:50 | | Immunohistochemistry (frozen and paraffin): 1:50 | | Optimal dilution to be determined by researcher. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Monoclonal | | Isotype | IgG1 | | Clone No | 9G209 | | Host | Mouse | | Source | Human | | Concentration | As reported | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in PBS, 0.1% BSA, 0.02% sodium azide. | | Purity | Purified | | Immunogen | Human soluble leptin receptor (sLR) in plasma | | Specificity | Recognizes human soluble leptin receptor (sLR) in plasma. It specifically reacts with sLR with a molecular mass of 180kD. The 2F1 antibody can be used to measure in both free sLR and sLR bound to leptin in plasma. | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
