| Leptin, the product of the ob (obese) gene, is a 16kD protein consisting of 146 amino acid residues. Leptin is produced in the adipose tissue, and is considered to play an important role in appetite control, fat metabolism and regulation of body weight. It targets the central nervous system, particularly hypothalamus, affecting food intake. Leptin levels are high in most obese individuals. Studies have shown that it may also influence reproductive function. | | | Catalog # | L1670-21 | | Applications | Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications have not been tested. | | Recommended Dilution | ELISA: > 1:200,000 (Use 1mg/ml human leptin to coat the plate) | | Immunohistochemistry: Paraffin sections with microwave technique | | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Reconstitution | | | Add 100ul of deionized water and let the lyophilized pellet dissolve completely. If slight turbidity occurs after reconstitution, clarify the solution by centrifugation. This does not affect activity of the antibody. | | Storage and Stability | Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Reconstitute to nominal volume by adding sterile 40% glycerol and store at -20°C. May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | Quality Control | | | Indirect ELISA–to determine titer of the antibody | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Polyclonal | | Host | Rabbit | | Source | Human | | Concentration | ~1mg/ml | | Form | Supplied as a lyophilized powder from 0.2 M phosphate buffer, 0.2 M sodium chloride, pH 7.2. | | Purity | Purified by Immunoaffinity chromatography on a column with immobilized human leptin. | | Immunogen | Highly purified recombinant human leptin. | | Specificity | Recognizes human leptin. Recombinant human leptin is 100% homologous with human serum leptin. | | | Important Note | This product is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications. |
