Lysozyme (also known as muramidase) is a mucolytic enzyme found in saliva, tears, urine, gastrointestinal secretions and serum. Lysozyme is a marker of histocytes/macrophages and myeloid differentiation.

ApplicationsSuitable for use in Flow Cytometry and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.
Recommended DilutionsFlow Cytometry: 1:10
Immunohistochemistry: Frozen and paraffin-embedded tissue and cytological material.
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and StabilityMay be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. FITC conjugates are sensitive to light.

SpecificityRecognizes human lysozyme. Can be used for immunohistochemical detection of histiocytic neoplasia and myeloid leukemias. Monocytic leukemia cells show strong positive immune reaction. Weak reaction is also found with granulocytes. Suitable for typing of acute leukemia.
