The expression of MAP2 is developmentally regulated and its multiple forms arise by alternative splicing of a single gene.

ApplicationsSuitable for use in Immunofluorescence, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications have not been tested.
Recommended DilutionWestern Blot: 1-2ug/ml for 2hrs at RT.
Immunohistochemistry (formalin/paraffin): 1-2ug/ml. Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH 6 for 10-20 min., followed by cooling at RT for 20 min.
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Positive ControlIMR-5 or T98G human glioblastoma cells or brain.
Storage and StabilityMay be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50%), aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

ImmunogenBovine brain microtubule associated protein 2. Epitope
SpecificityHighly specific to MAP2a,b,c and shows no crossreactivity with other MAPs, tau and tubulin. Recognizes MAP2a and MAP2b (~280kDa doublet) and MAP2c (70kDa). Its epitope maps in the first 151 amino acids of MAP2. Reacts with dendrites and cell bodies of neurons. Species Crossreactivity: Human, bovine, rat, Xenopus and quail.
