| MARCKS is a member of the calmodulin binding protein family, is localised to the plasma membrane, forming cross-links with actin filaments. Phosphorylation by protein kinase C at key serine residues results in inhibition of binding to actin, phosphatidyl serine and calmodulin. | | | MARCKS is thought to be involved in mitogenesis, phagocytosis and membrane trafficking. | | | The specificity of this antibody has been shown by blocking studies in Western blotting, whereby staining was blocked by the phosphopeptide.
