| MMP-1 is a collagenase belonging to the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family. The matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family consists of at least 25 zinc-dependent proteases that degrade multiple components of the extracellular matrix (ECM) and participate in connective tissue remodeling events. MMP-1 is widely distributed among endothelial, epithelial, and mesenchymal cells. It mainly digests interstitial collagens type I and III and also cleaves collagens of types VII and X. The gene localizes to chromosome 11q22.3. It degrades extracellular matrix and thereby promotes tumor invasion and progression. | | | Catalog # | M2420-03W | | Applications | Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry.
