Clone Host Grade Applications
Monoclonal Mouse Purified E B IH
MMPs are frequently expressed in malignant neoplastic cells and are thought to play crucial roles in tumor invasion and metastasis. Tissue inhibitors of matrix metalloproteinases (TIMPs) represent a family of ubiquitous proteins whose main biological function resides in their ability to control the activity of MMPs. MMP secretion by microvascular endothelial cells is an essential initial step in the formation of new blood vessels (neo-angiogenesis). Since angiogenesis does not occur in large blood vessels, it was investigated whether the secretion of MMPs and TIMPs differs between micro- and macro-vascular endothelial cells. Cultured endothelial cells derived from microvascular vs. macrovascular tissues exhibit different MMP and TIMP secretory profiles.
