| Matrix metalloproteinases (MMP) belong to a family of proteases that are essential for the breakdown of extracellular matrix, making them important in apoptosis, tumor cell growth, invasion, metastasis, angiogenesis and wound healing. Most of MMP's, whether they are soluble or membrane type (MT), contain common domain structures, which include a signal sequence, a propeptide, a catalytic domain and a hemopexin-like (Hpx) domain. MMP-16 and MMP-15 have been shown to activate pro-MMP-2 in different types of cancer cells in vitro; however, of all the MT-MMP's, MMP-14 is the one that is strongest in its induction of MMP-2 in vivo. | | | Catalog # | M2430-96B | | Applications | Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot.
