| Minichromosome maintenance (MCM) family (MCM2-7) plays roles in the initiation and elongation of DNA replication. In eukaryotes, the MCM complex consists of six essential proteins (MCM2-7) and each protein contain conserved C-terminal helicase domains and divergent N-terminal sequences. The MCM proteins are components of the pre-replicative complex that assembles on replication origins before S phase. MCM5 encodes a member of the MCM2-7 protein family consists of 732 residues and involved in the initiation and elongation of DNA replication. The sequences of all MCM5 homologues from yeast to human are highly conserved and suggest that their functions are also conserved. The protein is structurally similar to the cell division cycle 46 (CDC46) protein form S. cerevisiae, a protein involved in ther initiation of DNA replication. The subcellular localization of MCM5 has been shown to be under cell cycle control, it appears in the nucleus at late M phase and persists in the nucleus until the G1/S transition. Northern and Western blot analyses revealed that the expression of MCM5 and its transcriptional regulator, E2F1, is negatively regulated by p53. | | | Catalog # | M2749-35H | | Applications | Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry.
