| P-glycoprotein, the product of the MDR1 (Multidrug Resistance 1) gene, is expressed in distinct non-malignant cells, typically cells with secretory and excretory functions. It is assumed to function as an ATP-dependent drug efflux pump with broad substrate specificity. The highest expression of the P-glycoprotein has been observed in kidney (proximal tubules), liver (bile canaliculi), adrenal gland and intestine, suggesting that the primary role of P-glycoprotein is in the normal secretion of physiological metabolites and ingested chemicals into bile, urine, and the lumen of the intestinal tract. Elevated levels of P-glycoprotein have also been reported in the multidrug-resistant cell lines and in colon, endometrial, ovarian, and breast tumors, as well as in sarcomas, leukemias, and lymphomas | | | Catalog # | M2825-14Q | | Applications | Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry. Other applications have not been tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Immunohistochemistry: Frozen and formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections. | | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Positive Control | Human liver or human colon | | Expected Staining Pattern: Membrane | | Epitope Retrieval: Not Required | | Enzyme Digestion: Not Required | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Freeze at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Monoclonal | | Isotype | IgG2a | | Clone No | 6A122 | | Host | Mouse | | Concentration | As reported | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.4, and 1% BSA with 0.1% sodium azide | | Purity | Purified from mouse ascites | | Immunogen | Multidrug resistant CHO cells | | Specificity | Recognizes Multidrug Resistance 1 | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
