| The Human multidrug resistance gene MDR1 encodes a membrane-bound protein, referred to as P-glycoprotein that acts as a pump to extrude toxins from cells. The 3' untranslated region (3'UTR) of the Human MDR1 mRNA is very AU-rich (70%). MDR1 is a member of the super family of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters. MDR1 is a member of the MDR/TAP subfamily. It is responsible for decreased drug accumulation in multidrug-resistant cells and often mediates the development of resistance to anticancer drugs. This protein also functions as a transporter in the blood-brain barrier. It is expressed in Human liver, kidney, small intestine and brain. It is localized to Human chromosome 7q21.1. | | | Catalog # | M2825-14Y | | Applications | Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry.
