| Following its characterization as an activated oncogene (based on its ability to transform normal fibroblasts) Met was characterized as the receptor for hepatocyte growth factor. The c-Met receptor is a disulfide bonded heterodimer consisting of an ~50kD extracellular a-chain and an ~145kD b-chain with a cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase domain. Both chains are derived from a single precursor protein by proteolytic cleavage. c-Met is expressed in a wide variety of adult and embryonic tissues. It transmits biological responses including mitogenesis, morphogenesis and anti-apoptotic activity elicited by HGF. Dysregulated c-Met gene expression is observed in a variety of human carcinomas and sarcomas. c-Met also mediates the movement and invasiveness of neoplastic cells and promotes metastasis. Recently, transcription of the c-Met gene was suggested to be a target for regulation by p53 (1). | | | Catalog # | M3007-13 | | Applications | Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilutions | ELISA (Immunogen): 0.1-1ug/ml | | Western Blot: 1-2ug/ml | | Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin): 1-2ug/ml.
