| MUC1 is a large cell surface mucin glycoprotein expressed by most glandular and ductal epithelial cells and some hematopoietic cell lineages. It is expressed on most secretory epithelium, including mammary gland and some hematopoietic cells. It is expressed abundantly in lactating mammary glands and overexpressed abundantly in >90% breast carcinomas and metastases. Transgenic MUC1 has been shown to associate with all four cebB receptors and localize with erbB1 (EGFR) in lactating glands. The MUC1 gene contains seven exons and produces several different alternatively spliced variants. The major expressed form of MUC1 uses all seven exons and is a type 1 transmembrane protein with a large extracellular tandem repeat domain. The tandem repeat domain is highly O glycosylated and alterations in glycosylation have been shown in epithelial cancer cells. | | | Catalog # | M4700-05B | | Applications | Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, and Immunohistochemistry (frozen, paraffin). Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Hybridoma | FO myeloma cells with spleen cells from Balb/c mice. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile 40-50% glycerol, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Monoclonal | | Isotype | IgG1 | | Clone No | 9L477 | | Host | Mouse | | Concentration | ~3mg/ml | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.4, 0.1% sodium azide. | | Purity | Purified by Protein A affinity chromatography. | | Immunogen | Synthetic Muc1 peptide (KLH). | | Specificity | Recognizes the core peptide sequence of the breast carcinoma associated mucin coded for by the Muc1 gene. The minimal epitope that this product binds is the eight aa sequence SAPDTRPA within the 20aa tandem repeating sequence of the mucin core. | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
