| Mucins are heavily glycosylated glycoproteins, which constitute the major components of mucus which cover the surface of epithelial tissues. Nine distinct epithelial mucin genes (Muc-1, 2, 3, 4, 5AC, 5B, 6,7 and 8) have been identified. Various immunohistochemical and in situ hybridization studies have shown that these mucins are differentially expressed in epithelia with cell-type specificity. Muc-5AC and Muc-6 glycoproteins are the first two mucins found in superficial epithelium and Muc-6 glycoprotein is found in the deep glands. | | | Catalog # | M4700-06 | | Applications | Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry (frozen sections), Immunofluorescence, and Immunometric assays. Other applications have not been tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Hybridoma | X63-Ag8.653 myeloma cells with spleen cells from Balb/c mice. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50%), aliquot and store at -20°C or colder. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Monoclonal | | Isotype | IgG1 | | Clone No | 1.B.876 | | Host | Mouse | | Source | Human | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.4, 0.1% sodium azide. | | Purity | >90%. Purified by chromatography on protein A Sepharose. Purity is tested by electrophoresis. | | Immunogen | High molecular weight (>300kDa) glycoprotein from human milk-fat globule molecule. | | Specificity | Reacts with human MUC1 Glycoprotein. | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
