| Myelin basic protein accounts for about 30% of the proteins in myelin from the central nervous system. It is best known for its capacity to induce experimental allergic encephalomyelitis (EAE), a T-lymphocyte mediated disease due to delayed-type hypersensitivity; though each animal species appears to respond to a different fragment of the 170 amino acid polypeptide. Myelin basic protein is expressed in oligodendrocytes, myelin of white matter in the brain and spinal cord and in peripheral nerves. | | | Catalog # | M9758-02L | | Applications | Immunohistology (Formalin/paraffin): (Use Ab at 1:50 to 1:100 for 30 min at RT) No special pretreatment is required for the immunohistochemical staining of formalin/paraffin tissues. | | Positive Control | Brain | | Cellular Localization | Cytoplasmic | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Store at -20°C or colder. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Polyclonal | | Host | Rabbit | | Source | Human | | Concentration | As reported | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in 10mM PBS, pH 7.4, 0.2% BSA and 0.09% sodium azide. | | Purity | Purified antibody fraction from rabbit anti-serum. | | Immunogen | Myelin basic protein isolated from human brain. | | Specificity | Recognizes Myelin Basic Protein.
