Myelin transcription factor 1 (Myt1) is a neural specific, zinc dependent, DNA binding protein containing seven C2HC-type zinc fingers organized into two separated domains that function independently and can bind to the same DNA sequence. Myt1 plays a role in the developing CNS by stimulating the differentiation of early neuronal precursor and to specify glial cell lineage for glial cell precursors. Following birth, Myt1 induces myelin sheath production around CNS axons by activating the Schwann cell PLP gene. Observed expression of Myt1 has been reported in both oligodendrocyte lineage cells, more highly in progenitors than in differentiated oligodendrocytes, and in neural progenitors. Myt1 is primarily found in the developing CNS.

Recommended Dilutions
Western Blot: 1:1000 detects Myt1 on 10ug of PC12 cell lysate.
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Storage and StabilityMay be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
