Nephrin was first described as a kidney podocyte marker protein with a MW of 135kD calculated from amino acid sequence data and an apparent Mr 185kD after SDS-PAGE. Nephrin is a transmembrane cell adhesion molecule located at the slit diaphragm.

ApplicationsSuitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry and Immunofluorescence. Other applications have not been tested.
Recommended DilutionsImmunohistochemistry (Paraffin): 1:50 Microwave antigen retreval required.
Immunofluorescence: Frozen tissue
Western Blot: 1:500; 1 hr at RT or overnight at 4°C
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and StabilityMay be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.

SpecificityRecognizes nephrin. Positively stains podocytes of the kidney, radial glial cells of the brain, Sertoli cells of testis, and beta islet cells of the pancreas. Reacts with PCL (podocyte cell line) and M-1 (cortical collecting duct cells). Species Crossreactivity: human and mouse.
