| Neurofilaments are the 10nm or intermediate filament proteins found specifically in neurons, and are composed predominantly of three major proteins called NF-L, NF-M and NF-H. NF-L is the neurofilament light or low molecular weight polypeptide and runs on SDS-PAGE gels at about 68kDa. Antibodies to NF-L are useful for identifying neuronal cells and their processes in tissue sections and in tissue culture. NF-L antibody can also be useful in the diagnostics of neurofilament accumulations seen in many neurological diseases, such as Lou Gehrig’s disease or Alzheimerís disease. | | | Catalog # | N2160-01E | | Applications | Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry, Western Blot. Other applications have not been tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Western Blot: 1:5000 | | Immunohistochemistry (Cryostat sections and formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections): 1:1000. | | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Freeze at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Polyclonal | | Host | Rabbit | | Source | Porcine | | Concentration | Not determined | | Form | Supplied as a liquid. | | Purity | Serum | | Immunogen | Native NF-L purified from porcine spinal cord | | Specificity | Recognizes the light neurofilament subunit (~68kD). | | Species crossreactivity | Human, bovine, porcine, mouse, rat, avian. Should crossreact with most other mammals. | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
