| Neuofilaments (NF) are members of the intermediate filament protein family also known as 10nm filaments. These neuron-specific filaments are the major constituents of the axonal cytoskeleton (1). NFs are composed of three major proteins; NF-H, NF-L and NF-M and the ratio of each protein changes during neuronal development. NF-H is the heavy molecular weight protein (200kD), NF-M the medium (160kD) and NF-L the light protein (68kD) (2). NF-L self polymerizes and provides a scaffold for NFs to form via cross-bridging with NF-H or NF-M (3). NF-L aggregation has been linked to the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disease, such as degradation of motor neurons (4). | | | Catalog # | N2160-01L3 | | Applications | Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry, Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation.
