| Neurofilaments are the 10nm or intermediate filament proteins found specifically in neurons, and are composed predominantly of three major proteins called NF-L, NF-M and NF-H. NF-M is the neurofilament middle or medium molecular weight polypeptide and runs on SDS-PAGE gels at 145-160kD, with some variability across species boundaries. Antibodies to NF-M are useful for identifying neuronal cells and their processes in tissue sections and in tissue culture. NF-M antibodies can also be useful in the diagnostics of neurofilament accumulations seen in many neurological diseases, such as Lou Gehrig's disease or Alzheimer's disease. | | | Catalog # | N2160-01R | | Applications | Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence, Western Blotting. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Immunofluorescence: 1:100 | | Western Blotting: 1:1000 | | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add glycerol (40-50%)aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Monoclonal | | Isotype | IgG1 | | Clone No | 6H9 | | Host | Mouse | | Source | Rat | | Concentration | ~1mg/ml | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.2, 0.1% sodium azide. | | | Purity | Tissue culture supernatant | | Immunogen | Recombinant fusion protein containing the extreme C-terminus of rat NF-M expressed in and purified from E. coli (1). | | Specificity | The epitope is localized to within the last 56 amino acids at the extreme C-terminus of rat NF-M, the so-called KE segment which is highly conserved between NF-M molecules from different species. Recognizes intact NF-M strongly and specifically on Western Blots in all mammals and birds tested to date and also binds NF-M in cells in tissue culture and in sectioned material. | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
