Specifications

Nocodazole, an inhibitor of microtubule formation, was found to greatly inhibit cell division around the mound stage as well as during the vegetative growth phase, when applied to exponentially growing Ax-2 cells. Mitotic arrest of cells with nocodazole can be used to study phosphorylation of microtubule-associated proteins which increase during mitosis, concomitant with increased microtubule dynamics. Nocodazole has been found to dramatically inhibit T cell antigen receptor (TCR) signaling, independently of its ability to depolymerize microtubules. Nocodazole arrests the cell cycle at G2/M phase and prevents phosphorylation of the T cell antigen receptor and inhibits its activity.

Usage Prepare stock solution at 5mg/ml in DMSO. Further dilutions can be made in culture media. Due to insolubility (nocodazole is only slightly soluble in water), no more than 10ug/ml concentration can be used in cell culture systems. Nocodazole is stable in biological media for seven days.
Storage and StabilityMay be stored at RT for short-term only. Long-term storage is recommended at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap.
