Clone Host Grade Applications
Polyclonal Rabbit Affinity Purified B IP
Endothelial nitric-oxide synthase (eNOS) is an important enzyme in the cardiovascular system. It catalyzes the production of nitric oxide (NO), a key regulator of blood pressure, vascular remodeling and angiogenesis (1,2). eNOS is regulated by phosphorylation at multiple sites. The two most throughly studied sites are the activation site serine 1177 and the inhibitory site threonine 495 (3). Several protein kinases including Akt/PKB, PKA and AMPK activate eNOS by phosphorylating Ser1177 in response to various stimuli (4,5). In contrast, bradykinin and hydrogen peroxide activate eNOS activity by promoting Thr495 dephosphorylation (6,7).

Clone TypePolyclonal
ConcentrationNot determined
FormSupplied as a liquid in 10mM sodium HEPES, pH 7.5, 150mM sodium chloride, 0.1mg/ml BSA, 50% glycerol.
PurityPurified by Protein A and peptide affinity chromatography.
ImmunogenSynthetic phosphopeptide (KLH-coupled) corresponding to residues surrounding Thr495 of human eNOS.
SpecificityRecognizes endogenous levels of eNOS only when phosphorylated at threonine 495. Species Crossreactivity: Bovine and porcine. Reactivity is expected with human, mouse and rat due to 100% sequence homology with peptide used for immunogen.
Important NoteThis product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological.
