| Alternatively termed as linker for activation of B cells (LAB), NTAL is expressed in plasma membrane lipid rafts of B cells, mast cells, monocytes and NK cells. The engagement and activation of antigen receptors on B and T lymphocytes initiates signal transducing pathways that are vital for the successful initiation of an adaptive immune response. It is following the cross-linking of the B cell receptor (BCR) or high-affinity FE receptors of myeloid cells, that the tyrosine phosphorylation of NTAL occurs, enabling the formation of complexes between NTAL and further signaling molecules Grb2, Gab1, Sos1 and c-Cbl.
