| NUP153, also known as Nuclear pore complex protein Nup153, is a 1475aa containing nuclear pore complex protein located in the terminal ring structure of the nucleoplasmic cage. This structural protein contains four RanBP2-type zinc fingers. NUP153 may be considered as a possible DNA-binding subunit of the nuclear pore complex (NPC). NUP153, a transport protein, mediates the regulated movement of macromolecules between the nucleus and cytoplasm and is a mobile nucleoporin implicated in RNA export. It is required for nuclear pore complex anchoring within the nuclear envelop and in mediating specific nuclear import events.
