| This protein functions as an inhibitor for neurotransmittors release by reducing calcium ion currents and increasing potassium ion conductance. Jordan and Devi (1999) provided biochemical and pharmacologic evidence for the heterodimerization of 2 fully functional opioid receptors, kappa (OPRK1; 165196) and delta. This results in a new receptor that exhibits ligand binding and functional properties that are distinct from those of either receptor. Furthermore, the kappa-delta heterodimer synergistically binds highly selective agonists and potentiates signal transduction. Pharmacologic and electrophysiologic evidence indicates that opioid receptors are involved in the mechanism of heroin dependence. Thus, opioid receptors are appropriate candidate genes for case-control association studies of heroin dependence Xu et al. (2002). | | | Catalog # | O7030-15E | | Applications | Suitable for use in Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilution | Immunocytochemistry: 1:1000. | | Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add glycerol (40-50%) and aliquot. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | CAS Number | n/a | | Clone Type | Polyclonal | | Isotype | IgG | | Host | Rabbit | | Source | Rat | | Concentration | Not determined | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in 0.05% sodium azide. | | Purity | Serum | | Immunogen | A Synthetic peptide sequence corresponding to aa-TACTPSDGPGGGAAA, (358-372) of rat Opioid Receptor, delta.
