Pericentrin 1 is a 75kD component of the filamentous matrix of the centrosome, expressed in all tissues. When associated with centrosome and Golgi localised protein kinase N-associated protein (CG-NAP), pericentrin 1 anchors the gamma-tubulin ring complex, providing a site for microtubule nucleation and the initial establishment of organized microtubule arrays. It binds calmodulin and is a constituent of nuclear pore proteins (nup) 107-160, a sub-complex of the nuclear pore complex. Pericentrin 1 is thought to play a role in the functioning of the centrosomes, cytoskeleton, and cell-cycle progression.

Applications
Suitable for use in Immunoprecipitation, ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution
Peptide ELISA: 1:32,000 Western Blot: 1-3ug/ml, ~75kD band observed in HeLa lysates (calculated MW of 75kD according to NP_079120) Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide corresponding to sequence C-ARAIIREGSLEGS from the C-terminal of human pericentrin 1 (NP_079120). Species sequence homology: mouse and rat
Form
Supplied as a liquid in Tris saline, pH 7.2, 0.5% BSA, 0.02% sodium azide.
Purity
Purified by immunoaffinity chromatography.
Specificity
Recognizes human pericentrin 1. Not expected to recognize Kendrin (also known as Pericentrin 2). This may explain why it recognizes a 75KD band (the expected size according to NP_079120) and not a 220kD band (as reported for other anti-pericentrin antibodies).
