| Period circadian protein homolog 1 (PER1) is a member of the PAS family of protein that is encoded by a Period family of genes, i.e. PER1, and is expressed in a circadian pattern in the suprachiasmatic nucleus, the primary circadian pacemaker in the mammalian brain.
