| Peptone Water is a broth medium used for the detection of indole and carbohydrate fermentation patterns of non-fastidious organisms. Peptone Water is a minimal growth medium which is used for determining carbohydrate fermentation capabilities. | | | Catalog # | P3505-50 | | Recommended Dilutions | Carbohydrate Fermentation Study: 1% final carbohydrate concentration with phenol red (0.018g/L) indicator and Durham tube. After incubation a yellow broth with or without gas bubbles indicates a positive fermentation reaction. | | Indole Test: Place an indole test strip 10mm above a 24-48 hr. broth culture. Reincubate for 5-30 minutes. A violet red color on the test strip indicates a positive reaction. | | Storage and Stability | Store unopened medium at 2-30°C. Store opened medium container in a low humidity environment at 2-30°C. Store liquid medium at 4°C.
