Biological ActivityTo be determined. Pleiotrophin (PTN), also known as Heparin-Binding Growth Factor-8 (HBGF-8) and Heparin-Binding Neurite-Promoting factor (HBNF), is a member of the heparin-binding neurotrophic factor family. Pleiotrophin is important in developmental processes, promoting neurite extension and stimulating cell division in hepatocytes. Pleiotrophin bears structural homology with Midkine (MK). Both Pleiotrophin and Midkine are highly conserved among mammalian species
