| PMP-22 (Peripheral Myelin Protein) is a glycoprotein expressed in the compact myelin of the peripheral nervous system. In the peripheral nervous system, PMP-22 is produced by myelinating Schwann cells and is coexpressed with the genes for myelin basic protein (MBP) and protein P0 during nerve development and regeneration. However, Schwannoma cells not associated with peripheral nerve will be negative. Alterations in the level of this protein cause several genetic human diseases. If the protein is duplicated, patients develop Charcot- Marie-Tooth disease. If one copy of the gene is deleted, they suffer from the inherited tendency to pressure palsies. PMP-22 has recently been reported in high-grade osteosarcoma. | | | Catalog # | P4305-03 | | Applications | Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. | | Recommended Dilutions | Immunohistochemistry: (Formalin/paraffin): 1:12.5-1:25 for 60 min. Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0 for 10-20 min followed by cooling at RT for 20 min. | | Positive Control | Peripheral nerve, pancreatic islets. | | Storage and Stability | May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | | Clone Type | Polyclonal | | Host | Rabbit | | Source | Human | | Concentration | ~0.1mg/ml | | Form | Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.6, 0.2% BSA and 15mM sodium azide, before the addition of glycerol to 40%. | | Purity | Purified by immunoaffinity chromatography. | | Immunogen | A synthetic peptide from near C-terminal of human PMP-22. Epitope | | Specificity | Recognizes human PMP-22. | | | Important Note | This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological. |
